What is Image Convert?
Image Convert changes an image's format — between JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP, HEIC. Different formats trade off file size, transparency support and compatibility differently.
How to use Image Convert
- Drop one or more images.
- Pick the target format and quality if applicable.
- Click "Convert" — Canvas / Squoosh / libheif handles the encoding.
- Download the converted images.
Why use AinnoBox for this
- One tool covers every direction between seven formats, instead of a separate single-purpose converter for each pair.
- HEIC input is decoded with libheif, so iPhone photos convert here even though most browsers still cannot display them natively.
- Modern targets — WebP and AVIF — are first-class options, so converting is often also the moment you cut the file size substantially.
- Conversion is a common excuse for uploading a whole photo library to an unknown site; here the library never leaves the device.
- Batch conversion, free, no sign-up, no watermark.
Image Convert — frequently asked questions
- Which format should I convert to?
- WebP for images on a modern website — smaller than JPEG with transparency support. JPEG when maximum compatibility matters. PNG for screenshots, logos and anything needing sharp edges or transparency. AVIF when file size is the priority and you can accept slower encoding.
- What happens to transparency?
- PNG, WebP and AVIF keep the alpha channel. Converting to JPEG discards it, because JPEG has no concept of transparency — transparent areas are flattened onto a solid background.
- Is converting between formats lossless?
- Only when both sides are lossless, such as PNG to PNG or PNG to lossless WebP. Converting into JPEG, lossy WebP or AVIF re-encodes the picture and discards some information. Converting a JPEG to PNG cannot restore what the JPEG already threw away — it just stops further loss.
