What is PDF Watermark?

Watermark PDF adds a text watermark (for example "DRAFT" or "CONFIDENTIAL") behind or over each page. Adjustable opacity, font size, colour, rotation and position.

How to use PDF Watermark

1. Drop one or more PDFs (up to 20 at a time).
2. Type the watermark text and tweak appearance options.

PDF Watermark — frequently asked questions

Can the watermark be removed by the recipient?

It is drawn into the page content rather than stored as a removable annotation, so it cannot be toggled off in a normal reader. A determined person with professional editing software can still strip it — a watermark deters casual misuse, it is not a security control.

What opacity should I use?

Around 20 to 30 per cent for a background mark that leaves body text comfortably readable. Go higher only when the point is to make the document visibly unusable, for example a specimen or sample copy.

Does the watermark go behind or in front of the text?

It is drawn over the existing content, which is why opacity matters. At a low opacity it reads as a background wash; at full opacity it will obscure whatever sits underneath it.
